Small Equipment Policy

Circulation of Lower Cost Equipment, Realia, & Special Learning Video Media

Small equipment items costing less than $100.00 will be charged to individuals as a regular loan item. Loan periods for small equipment are for 7 days, with 1 renewal. Extended use charges will accrue at the rate of 25 cents per day, with no upper limit.

Small equipment items include, but are not limited to the following: paper cutters, cassette tape players, coffeemakers, folding tables, or easels.

Realia is a term covering 3-dimensional objects that are circulated in libraries. Loan periods for realia are for21 days, with 2 renewals. Extended use charges will accrue at the rate of 25 cents per day, with no upper limit.

Realia items include, but are not limited to the following: sculpture, toys, puppets, and bagged story collection kits.

Special learning videotapes, by their nature, require longer circulation periods than feature film videotapes. Loan periods for special learning videotapes are for 21 days, with 2 renewals. Extended use charges accrue at the rate of 25 cents per day, with no upper limit.

Special learning videotapes include, but are not limited to, the following types of videos: foreign language instruction, English as a second language, GED study tapes, basic literacy instruction, firefighter training, or mixed media bag sets.
